We can only hope that this Saturday’s Premier League action will be even half as exciting as the Champions League was in mid-week, but Sky Sports and BT Sports are serving up three potentially exciting matches. Southampton will surely have to go all out in a bid for three much needed points against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping to continue to ride a crest of a wave against Bournemouth after they beat Man City at the Etihad on Tuesday. Last, but not least. City will be trying to edge closer to the title as they travel to Tottenham for what is often a goal-fest between the two sides.

Southampton vs Chelsea (Saturday 12.30, Sky Sports)

Southampton currently sit in the relegation places three-points behind Crystal Palace but do have a game-in-hand. They also get some respite this week after three straight Premier League away defeats. However, this is a Southampton side that hasn’t won at home since the 26th November and face a Chelsea side who, unlikely though it is, mathematically still have Champion League aspirations. Chelsea aren’t in the best of form either, but have won their last four against Southampton, and don’t look a bad bet at to show their class at a shade of odds-on against a team that struggle to find the net with any consistency.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth (Saturday 5.30, BT Sport)

If the Liverpool that beat Manchester City in both legs of their Champions League Quarter-final turns up, this may be a very one-sided affair, especially as Liverpool already boast a 4-0 win over Bournemouth this season. There’s has to be a doubt they won’t, however the Liverpool forwards seem to be enjoying themselves that much that they should get among the goals against a Bournemouth side that hasn’t kept a clean-sheet for eight games. Bournemouth also looks unlikely to get pulled into the relegation battle so, as five of Bournemouth’s last seven games have produced at least four goals, hopefully this will be another goal-fest.

Tottenham vs Man City (Saturday 7.45, Sky Sports)

It’s been a disastrous week for Manchester City, who would have been hoping to win the Premier League in front of Manchester United’s fans, and progress to the Champions League semi-finals. However, neither plan came to fruition. The results don’t tell the full story though as City dominated the first-half in both matches but just couldn’t get the job done. The pressure is off here though as City can’t wrap up the title unless their neighbours Manchester United lose against West Brom on Sunday, which seems highly-unlikely. Meanwhile, Tottenham, who are 10 points in front of fifth-placed Chelsea, will be thinking they can still make a bid to finish third or even second in the Premier League and look sure to try and get at City. Therefore, this promises to be another high-scoring affair. Four of the last eight matches between the two sides produced at least five goals, so it could be worth going high.
