Leicester City will host high-flying Liverpool in an exciting Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
The Foxes had begun their season with a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, but since then, they have picked up three consecutive wins in all competitions. In the league, the Foxes have managed back-to-back wins over Wolves and Southampton. The hosts currently sit in the seventh spot with six points. They were also involved in the League Cup action during the midweek and a second-string side registered a comfortable 4-0 win over League One side Fleetwood Town. Leicester City have built up a nice momentum, but they would be huge underdogs against Liverpool. Jamie Vardy would be a huge miss for the Foxes because of the red card he picked up against Wolves. In his absence, Kelechi Iheanacho should lead the attack against the Reds.
The Reds are one of the four sides to pick up maximum nine points from their first three games. However, they find themselves at the top of the table due to a better goal difference.
The Merseysiders come into this game following a 1-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion. The Reds enjoy a reputation for their offensive play under Jurgen Klopp, but it appears that even their defence is functioning perfectly well this season. Liverpool are yet to concede a goal as keeper Alisson Becker has started his life with the club with three clean sheets.
On the attacking front, Mohamed Salah has picked up from where he left off last season. The Egyptian has two goals this season including the match-winning striker against Brighton. Sadio Mane has also aptly contributed, and he has three goals in the first three games.
In the last eight league meetings between these two sides, Liverpool have maintained an edge with five wins and Leicester have managed only two. The Foxes have held their own against Liverpool at King Power as they have won two of their last three home meetings with the Reds.
However, Liverpool claimed a league-double over their opponents last season including a 3-2 win in the corresponding fixture.
Leicester City Team News
As mentioned above, striker Jamie Vardy is suspended for this fixture. Matty James is ruled out with an injury while summer-signing Caglar Söyüncü is lacking match fitness. Filip Benkovic made his Leicester debut during the midweek, and he could be included in the squad for Saturday.
Liverpool Team News
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ruled out for the duration of the season. Centre-back Dejan Lovren is another injury-absence for the Reds. Joe Gomez has looked impressive next to Virgil van Dijk at the centre of the defence, and he should keep his place in the eleven.
It’s a tricky tie for Liverpool, but they should be winning such games if they hope to challenge for the league title. Despite being the away side, Liverpool are huge favourites at odds round 9/20. We would advise the bettors to stay away from an away win as there is no value in the outcome.
